CAF 2015 – CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

The 20th annual Cambridge Arts Festival 2015 was held on Saturday, June 20 coinciding for the second year with the Mayor’s Celebration of the Art and Art Attic.  The weather was just about perfect and we had a beautiful warm and sunny day.  The Preston Scout House Cadet Drum Line returned to open the festival with a drum performance at 10 am. The Artist Market was set up along Dickson Street along with merchandise and food vendors.  The main outdoor stage hosted musical acts for children and adults including the popular Mad Science.  Musical guests included Pilot Project, JoJo Worthington, Kris MacQueen Band, Ophelia Syndrome,Ever Lovin’ Jug Band, Terns, Rebekah Stevens and Goodnight Sunrise. A second outdoor stage coined “Accoustic Alley” featured local solo artists led by Cacia Murphy.

Our outdoor Children’s area offered even more free creative activities for kids including face painting, arts and crafts, sidewalk chalk and graffiti chalk wall, bubbles, balloons, book readings by Julie Nichols, the TD Colouring Mural, recycled art and more.

CAF holds the largest Maker Lab in Cambridge and it was bigger and better than ever with Robot Assemblage, Simple Circuits Lab, Kinetic Kinect Art,  Doodle Bots, Battle Bots,  R/C Rovers, 3D Printers, Recycle Paper Plane Launch as well as interactive activities from Dynamic Innovations (Advanced Robotics),  Idea Exchange (Science of Flight, Brush Bots, Lego Wall) Maker Expo, Bot Brawl (Robotics Exhibit),  and Year of Code  (Intro to Coding).

Back by popular demand, our Kid’s Passport was a big hit as children collected activity stamps to win great prizes.

Other special activities included our Book Swap, a sensory exploration workshop with DeafBlind Ontario, and an indoor art exhibit from Highland Public School.

Our Silent Auction was a great success and funds raised will support CAF 2016.  Many thanks to our donors (listed below) for their generous support.
