The 21st annual Cambridge Arts Festival was held on Saturday, June 18, 2016. The weather cooperated again and we had a beautiful warm and sunny day. The Artist Market was set up along Dickson Street with over 30 participating artists along with merchandise and food vendors. The main music stage was located behind Old City Hall and was organized with the help of E-Bolt Music. A second outdoor stage in front of City Hall was host to our first-ever Bot Brawl. The Toronto Choir and Preston Scout House Band also performed during brawl intermissions.
Our outdoor Children’s area offered even more free creative activities for kids including face painting, arts and crafts, sidewalk chalk the TD Colouring Mural, recycled art and more. We were thrilled to welcome new activities including Tinker Truck River Works and Tread on it T-Shirt Art. Back by popular demand, our Kid’s Passport was a big hit as children collected activity stamps to win great prizes.
CAF holds the largest Maker Lab event in Cambridge and it was bigger and better than ever with the support of sponsor Operandi Technology Solutions who demonstrated their incredible VR (virtual reality) Technology. Activities including Robot Assemblage, Simple Circuits Lab, Kinetic Kinect Art, Doodle Bots, Battle Bots, R/C Rovers, 3D Printers, Mindful Makers Paper Craft Arcade, and Idea Exchange Interactive Stations rounded out our Maker activities.
Other special activities included our Book Swap, musical petting zoo with Long & McQuade, a display from the Fashion History Museum, art activities from Cambridge Centre for the Arts and an indoor art exhibit from Highland Public School.
Our Silent Auction was a great success and funds raised will support CAF 2017. Many thanks to our donors (listed below) for their generous support.
